Known for displays of breathtaking pieces of art, the Reading Public Museum also has Planetarium, as well as a 25 acre arboretum to keep you and your family busy all day. There are galleries on ancient civilizations, natural science, Asia, Oceanic, French 19th century collections and much more. Spanning over three floors, the museum has collections consisting of a variety of art, armor, artifacts from various world civilizations, artifacts depicting natural history and its growth, as well as items from various cultures around the world.
The ground floor consists of the restrooms, administrative offices, the auditorium, as well as the Museum shop, which sells a variety of collectibles and other art items and is constantly upgraded. The museum shop remains open during museum hours and has no admission fee. Apart from the exhibits the museum also arranges educational as well as cultural programs suited for adults as well as kids. A fun way to learn, these programs are arranged for school students as well. There is an admission charge, with different rates for adults and children, kids under 4years have free entry, as well as museum members. Admission charges are to be paid at the museum shop.
Free parking on the museum property is another feature, and the museum remains open on all days except Monday and major holidays such as Labor Day, Christmas Day and others. The museum remains open from 12 pm till 4 pm, and last admission is half hour before closing time. There are no restaurants or cafes in within the museum, but many eating joints can be found nearby such as The Peanut Bar, Third and Spruce Café and many others.
