The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire in the Lancaster area is full of great events for visitors to participate in. In addition to the nearby mansion and Mount Hope Estate winery, visitors can take part in the incredible Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, which provides astounding performances and stunts by highly qualified individuals. Visitors will see fire-breathing acts, amazing stunts on horseback such as swordfighting and jousting, "magic," and live musical concerts with the original instruments used during the Middle ages. The area is transformed into a complete 16th Century English Village. There are many Tudor Buildings and more than 90 shows that are provided for visitors each day of the festival. Visitors can taste beverages that mark the time period, including 23 Royal Kitchens serving delicious wines. Puppet shows are also part of the live performances, providing a show of all of the talents and skills of these people.
Merchants will be on hand to demonstrate a variety of different artforms and practical uses of their trade, including Herb Gardening, Archery, Royal Falconer, Sculpting, Sword Fighting, Blacksmithing, Glassblowing, Leather Work, Stained Glass, Pottery, Wood Turning, and Treadle Scroll Saw Cutting. Each of these demonstrations will provide visitors with a new outlook on the Medieval Times, and they'll be welcome to ask questions regarding the merchant's work and how it is done. Merchants will be glad to answer questions, likewise.
Visitors can also watch a special war demonstration as the Mount Hop Trained Band takes on a camp in which they will show visitors the life of a soldier who lived in the 1500's. Visitors will also see how these soldiers trained and practiced for the upcoming battles, in addition to skills like cooking over an open fire, playing cards, playing music, singing and other things.
