Lititz Springs Park is a private park owned and operated by the Moravian Church congregation in Lititz, Pennsylvania, eight miles north of Lancaster. Starting the end of March, the park is the site of several fairs and festivals, in addition to Sunday vespers and monthly Friday-night movies from June through September.
An Annual Flea Market was begun in May, 2008. Lititz citizens rent tables and empty their closets, basements and garages with proceeds going toward park maintenance. The first craft show in the park is held in June, along with "Family Day in the Park,' the last Sunday in June. There's Bingo in the pavilion, races and games for children, including a Candy Scramble, a pie-eating contest, water balloon toss, cake walk and live entertainment.
Fourth of July celebrations at the park date back to 1817. The two-day event features a Baby Parade, dance performances, live bands, a Queen of the Candles pageant, and the Illumination of Candles, a Lititz tradition since 1842. A Beatlemania Tribute is performed by Beatles impersonators, former members of the Broadway hit musical Beatlemania, with vintage musical instruments and costumes. In 2008, an American Idol Search contest was added to the July 4 traditions at Lititz Springs Park.
An annual Outdoor Art Show has been held in the park since 1966, the last weekend in July. August events include a Rotary Club Craft Show, Lions Club Ice Cream Social with a night of live music, and an antiques fair. Annual Teddy Bear Day in the park is held every September, and the first week in December, Christmas in the Park, concludes official events for the year.
Historical buildings, gardens, fountains and landscaped scenery make this a naturally beautiful environment for community activities. Tourists are welcome to share this idyllic retreat.
