The Lancaster Museum of Art is a non-profit art center that seeks to promote and present traditional and contemporary art forms. Housed in the historic 1845 Greek revival style Clement B. Grubb Mansion, the Museum located in Lancaster city, Pennsylvania has been the beacon for culture, art and education for people visiting or residing in the area. Open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. the Museum is closed on all major holidays excepting the Fourth of July. The mansion that forms the setting for the Museum boasts of splendid architecture. You can marvel at the marble and cast iron fireplaces, ionic columns around doors and windows and oval staircases of the mansion along with the changing exhibitions of contemporary art by the local, regional, national and international artists of the Museum. Each year 30,000 visitors attend the fifteen to seventeen exhibitions of contemporary visual arts including paintings, drawings, photography, ceramics, sculpture and other media by regional and national artists hosted by the Museum. The Museum is known as one of the region's largest cultural organizations with an extensive collection of works by contemporary regional artists and an important educational resource catering to students and partnering with city and county schools to improve the visual arts curriculum. The Lancaster Museum of Art is located in a scenic downtown public park and can be rented for weddings, receptions, private functions, conferences and other activities. It is handicap accessible on the first floor and offers activities for kids as well.
