Historic Rock Ford Plantation in Lancaster, PA

The Historic Rock Ford Plantation is an excellent example of Georgian architecture in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  Its red brick construction and tradition façade greets visitors as it has since 1794.

Edward Hand bought and constructed the Plantation in Lancaster. It served as a tenant farm during this time, and actually up until the 1950s. It was at this time that the Rock Ford Plantation faced possible destruction. Luckily the land was purchased by the Junior League of Lancaster who worked to restore and renovate the home and surrounding buildings. Opened to the public in the 1960s, Rock Ford Plantation is a popular location for visitors who wish to see a bit of authentic history.

Rock Ford Plantation is outfitted with 18th century décor and original items such as shutters and doors.  Visitors are transported in time when a nation was just learning to walk. Surrounded by rolling green hills, the Rock Ford Plantation is picturesque and serene.

The Plantation's Barn is available for rentals for weddings or business meetings. It's far more luxurious then other types of barns and is perfectly suitable for these functions. The other buildings on this 30 some odd acre land include an additional barn, a tenant house, outbuildings, and a springhouse.

There are activities offered at the Historic Rock Ford Plantation such as the Open Hearth Cooking Demonstrations. Here visitors will see how traditional meals were made providing a fascinating glimpse into the past.
