Located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, Hersheypark is a chocolate-themed amusement park. It is near the Hershey Chocolate Factory and is among the oldest theme parks in the United States. Hersheypark was founded in 1907 as a park for Hershey Chocolate employees to spend leisure time. The park sits on about 110 acres and includes a variety of rides and attractions.
The park is adjacent to both Hershey’s Chocolate World and ZOOAMERICA. Hershey’s Chocolate World is a visitors’ center. It is full of restaurants and shops and gives visitors a unique view of the chocolate making process and the history of the Hershey’s company.
There are more than 60 rides and attractions at Hersheypark ranging from shops and leisurely rides to thrilling roller coasters. Among the roller coasters are the Wild mouse, the Sidewinder, the Lightning Racer and the Roller Soaker. The Balloon Flite and Starship America are among the most popular rides in the park. One of the more recent additions to Hersheypark includes Reese’s Xtreme Cup Challenge, which is an interactive ride that takes place in the dark and sets two cars to compete against one another. There is also a new waterpark located in Hersheypark called “The Boardwalk at Hersheypark.” It includes 9 water attractions and rides. There are several games, concessions, and shops located at the Boardwalk.
Hersheypark features themed areas in the theme park, among them Tudor Square, Rhineland, Founder’s Circle, Comet Hollow, Music Box Way, Minetown, Pionner Frontier, the Boardwalk at Hersheypark, Midway America, and Der Deitsch Platz, which is the Dutch-themed area to reflect the Dutch population of the area.
