Lancaster is famous for celebrating its culture and history. The area celebrates the American history, its Puerto Rican heritage, the Amish, and several other cultures. Tourists can find at least one festival or cultural events any time through the summer. However, Lancasterfest is the only event that celebrates the diversity of many cultures. The entire downtown core shuts down for this celebration.
More than 100 craft vendors and 25 musical groups offer excitement and adventure at every turn. The events change every year, but have held Korean Fashion Shoes, Kids and culture organization's "A World of Sillies," a children's stage, activity booths, dance exhibitions, costumes for sale, regional foods, and more. The festival is designed for both adults and children in mind.
This one day festival, typically held in August, in downtown Lancaster and
Lancaster Square. It is almost impossible to see everything. The events include dancing, music, crafts, shows, and a wide variety of food.
The festival is open from 10am — 5pm, and admission is free. It is a good idea to stay in the downtown core, or come early, as parking is limited and visitors do not want to miss one minute of the fun.
The city of Lancaster also supports the event. A sea of people fill the Harrisburg's
Riverfront Park and the downtown core. The shopping and restaurants offer entertainment after the festival closes. Visitors can spend days in the area without exhausting the region's entertainment and historical sites. This one celebration brings together the White Rose and Red Rose cities. It is a great day of fun for all.
