The Lancaster area offers much by way of education to residents and transfer students. With their own individualized programs, these three institutions help to provide diversity to Lancaster and its surrounding towns.

Franklin & Marshall College
Began largely through donations made by Benjamin Franklin, Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster was opened in 1787 and originally housed in an old brewery.

The college has an interesting history, including former President, James Buchanan, as at one time on the Board of Trustees a few years before he took office.

Many from all over enjoy visiting this college and its many institutions such as a performing arts hall, museum, sporting venues and more.

Millersville University
This 250-acre campus, located in Millersville, PA, is known for its excellence in meteorology education, architecture and man-made lake.

The university also holds a special 3-day event every May, the Spoken Word Festival, with storytelling and poetry slams to celebrate the art.

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology
This two-year public college is located in Lancaster and home to about 800 students. The campus has 18 buildings, including five residence halls and a large Multipurpose Activity Center with three NCAA-sized basketball courts, racquetball courts and indoor track.

Thaddeus Stevens offers vocational courses in Architectural Technology, Cabinet Making and Wood Technology and Collision Repair Technology, among many others.

Franklin and Marshall College Campus

This college is a four-year institution in the Northwest Corridor part of Lancaster. This beautiful campus is home to the 25th-oldest institution for higher education. The college was named after Benjamin Franklin. Franklin donated money to the college when it was new.
