Abe's Buggy Rides
This tour is a great opportunity to see how the Amish community operates and travels. With a guided tour by an Amish family, you will be taken by buggy to many locations around Amish country, including a farm, school house and more dating back to the 1700s. Tour lengths vary from 20- to 45-minute tours.
Amish Country Tours
This narrated bus tour will take you to the farmlands and craft shops within the Amish community. Here you will learn about the alternative, simpler lifestyle they choose to live.
Balloon Flights Daily
Experience the thrill of floating on air by booking this ride with the United States Hot Air Balloon Team. Launching from an area bed and breakfast, the ride will allow you to see much of the beautiful Pennsylvania Dutch country with a variety of flight packages to choose from, including the addition of champagne and snacks.
Buck Motorsports Park
This park has an array of events involving motor vehicles such as demolition derbies and monster truck shows. The park also has a souvenir stand and refreshment stand.
Country Barn Farm Land
This farm offers many activities for visitors as well as a market full of freshly-grown vegetables and fruits. Complete with a corn maze, pig racing and barnyard, this farm has something for all ages to enjoy. There is also a gift shop on the premises, selling jellies, jams, candles and baskets.
Dutch Wonderland
This theme park comes equipped with over 30 rides, a water play area, mini golf and live entertainment. The park provides entertainment for the whole family in a fun atmosphere tailored in old Dutch fashion with a castle encompassing the park and the play area named The Duke's Lagoon.
Eagle Falls Adventure Park
This park includes mini golf, go-carts, water slides and bumper boats. Open from April to October, the park provides fun for the whole family.
Gillingham Horse Drawn Carriage Company
This company offers a unique Pennsylvania Dutch experience with a carriage ride through the countryside. They also offer pony rides to the kids.
Goggleworks
Goggleworks Center for the Arts is a tour stop on the Pennsylvania Glass Trail, spanning from Lancaster to LeHigh Valley, with displays throughout of glass art artisanship. Visitors can see the glass exhibits and participate in glassblowing activities. Goggleworks also offers workshops on many art topics such as drawing, glassblowing and dance.
Historic Rock Ford Plantation
Tours of this plantation show visitors how its original residents lived during the late 1700s. Used for farming by its owner General Edward Hand, a mansion in Georgian style was also built on the property, along with a tenant house, barns and outbuildings that still stand today. Visitors can participate in a guided tour and interactive activities such as dressing in period costumes and open-hearth cooking. Re-enactments of the Revolutionary War can also be seen here.
James Buchanan's Wheatland
Because it was James Buchanan's home during the Civil War, Wheatland has been restored in recent years to preserve the historical significance of the plantation. The guided tour is a fun, educational experience for all ages, depicting the life and times of Buchanan and his philanthropic niece, Harriet Lane, who coincidently served as First Lady because Buchanan was single when he entered office.
Landis Valley: A Civil War Village
The Landis Valley Museum features the many artifacts and stories attributed to village's Civil War roots. Along with the farms and periodic buildings, including a hotel, log cabins and a school house, you can also see a Civil War re-enactment with both Confederate and Union troops.
Longwood Gardens
This botanical destination has over 1,000 acres of meadows, woodlands and gardens to explore. The area also features heated greenhouses and beautiful fountains.
Overlook Golf Course
Originally opened in 1926, this 18-hole golf course welcomes thousands of visitors to its fairways with its par of 70. The property also boasts a full-service pro shop and lighted driving range.
St. James Church
This historical church, dating back to the 1700s, has withstood many monumental events throughout American history, such as the Revolutionary War and still holds mass on a regular basis. Its list of parishioners include signer of the Declaration of Independence George Ross and Judge William Atlee.
The Laserdome
The Laserdome is a sports arena specifically designed for laser tag games. With four activity areas such as the Virtual Arena, the 6,000 square-foot arena provides fun for the whole family.
Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania
The sanctuary, in operation for over 20 years, provides a home for more than 40 wolves and is funded largely by donations. Public tours are available and visitors can learn more about these creatures. The 22-acre property also has a Colonial-style mansion that has been restored to be a hotel for guests.
