Labor Day Weekend Ideas in Lancaster, PA

Labor Day weekend is a wonderful time to visit Lancaster, Pennsylvania. With the last few warm days of summer, you can take the opportunity to enjoy many of the outdoor activities the area offers as well as special events taking place during the holiday weekend.

Throughout the Labor Day weekend, you can enjoy the festivities at the Long's Park Arts and Crafts Festival. This large outdoor festival is the perfect way to experience the local culture while enjoying the warm summer weather. With over 200 exhibitors showcasing their arts, crafts, and other handiwork, as well as great cuisine and plenty of live entertainment, the Long's Park Arts and Crafts Festival is a great way to enjoy your time in Lancaster.

Treat the family to one last summertime thrill at the Dutch Wonderland theme park. This popular family attraction takes you to a magical realm of castles, princes, and princesses, and boasts over 30 rides for all ages and sizes. Your family will also love family-friendly shows throughout the day, as well as plenty of dining options, a gift shop, and games at Dutch Wonderland. After Labor Day weekend, this park is openly open on weekends at a reduced operating schedule. So make plans to enjoy this attraction over Labor Day weekend!

You can also have a blast at the Eagle Falls Adventure Park. Eagle Falls is open from April through October each year, so Labor Day weekend is the ideal time to enjoy the good times to be had at this family-friendly park. On-site, you can spend the day together with 18-hole miniature golf course, the go-kart races, bumper boats, water slides, and more. Eagle Falls Adventure Park is the perfect break from sightseeing in Lancaster.

You can give your family a real Amish experience with Abe's Buggy Rides any time of year, but the warmth of summertime is a wonderful to sit back and enjoy a traditional Amish ride through the beautiful countryside. Abe's Buggy Rides has been in business for over forty years, and offers you a ride in a horse-drawn carriage. This is the way many of the Amish still travel today! Buggy rides are available in 20, 30, and 45 minute rides.

The Landis Valley: A Civil War Village is a historic attraction that offers a look at a real Civil War Village. This 100 acre living history museum is full of both indoor and outdoor experiences, including actual historic buildings dating back hundreds of years ago, artifacts and exhibits from as far back as 1740, and more. If you visit Landis Valley on Sunday, September 6, you can enjoy the museum's Ice Cream Sunday, featuring make-your-own sundaes on the museum's lawn. You will also want to make time to enjoy the outdoor re-enactment scene, which features Union troops in period costume in a re-created Civil War scene.

A visit to Lancaster is the perfect way to cap off a fabulous summer. With the area's many outdoor activities, events, and attractions, you can enjoy a full weekend of fun in Lancaster with the summer's last few warm days!
