A History of Lancaster, PA

Lancaster County, also known as Pennsylvania Dutch County, has a population of just under 500,000. It was named after the city in England, although many of the residents here are of Dutch or German descent who emigrated in the 18th and 19th century for the freedom of religion which was offered by William Penn. The soil in the area is extremely fertile and it has a mild climate. The city of Lancaster is vibrant and packed with historical attractions, art galleries and museums, as well as many interesting shops and boutiques. The Psalms of David plays at the Sight and Sound Millenium Theatre during spring and summer and interprets the words of the 23rd Psalm through music. It features music from Bach and Handel as well as music from Gregorian monks and music from more modern times. It's an exciting show that's designed to get the audience singing and clapping along.
